We walked alone, New York in the rain
Umbrellas are knocking and leaves start to change
My tears on your sweater, last time together
We said our goodbyes, knew it was forever
Nothing feels worse when you're under the curse
Of an autumn chill, time stands still
'Cause it's always September
When you walk in the room
One of these days, the seasons will change
But how can I fall for someone new?
When it's always September with you
Sweat through my silk, Chicago heatwave
Mint chocolate chip ice cream, and ice in my latte
It couldn't be hotter, so why am I cold?
Shivers went down my spine, you must be close
You keep me on the dark side of the Sun
Yes, it's always September
When you walk in the room
One of these days, the seasons will change
But how can I fall for someone new?
When it's always September with you
I'm wrapped up in the covers while you've been moving on
Tell me, what's it like in summer with her hanging on your arm?
When you see me in the doorway, do the raindrops start to fall?
'Cause it's always September
Yes, it's always September
Why is it always September?
