In the morning I went out into the desert
In search of my soul it’s neither hot nor cold
And I know I’ll grow old never letting the truth be
Told or unfolded in my walk
When I know I can love so much stronger
I know I can walk with christ much longer
I know I can sing and chant his praises

This lukewarm feeling has got me going astray
Let me be hard to the core and on fire once more
And sure as I’ve never been before
So I move on into your grace and love
In this mystical revelation I know
That there’s no time to sit idly by and not realize
That we with eyes need to truly see
Yet here I am with this lukewarm feeling
Not standing firm not bowing nor kneeling
Not moving forward no backward rhyme or reason
Oh lord please lift me out of this season
Oh, it happens to the best of us so don’t be discouraged
While we’re living in this eye for an eye world
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world
But be transformed by the renewing of your mind
And now that I have come out of this desert I’ve found my soul
Now it’s strong and bold and I know I’ll go on
