In my name, a letter that came
Sent by the person I heard had jumped yesterday
I never knew the guy, what did he look like?
Only knew him as another person in the class next to mine
Reading it through at last, it hit fast
Every word ripping through, I met with the fact
These are the feelings felt by somebody gone, I can’t reach
From the rust covered railing on the roof, you can see
The very dreary scenery
Staring out through the sorry starry skies above
What could’ve you been thinking? What was it you last thought of?
We’re sneaking back into the school when it’s pitch black
To see it, the roof and what you saw last
If I see that view then maybe I can know you
What you were thinking, and maybe, then I’d get it too
Finally seeing that view, we
Still didn’t know at all, yet after everything
With only dreary skies, it was clear in my mind
Forever you and I will be ships in the night
Another tragedy of strangers, passed by
From the rust covered railing on the roof, you can see
The very dreary scenery
Staring out through the sorry starry skies above
What could’ve you been thinking? What was it you last thought of?
Raven hair like the night, riding the wind underneath
We watch the dreary scenery
Even standing here, I couldn’t understand a thing
I couldn’t even really properly come to grieve
Holding back tears barely shed, breathe in again
Lifting my eyes, I stare surprised
At a beautiful sky
From the roof, looking up into the air, you can see
The beauty, a starry sky I’ve never seen
If it’s anything at all like the sky you saw on that night
Then couldn’t help but feel somewhat glad inside
Standing here with the night, feeling the wind underneath
I'm thinking over the future for me
Can the final thing I see be the sky that you saw too?
I'm selfishly praying, I hope I do
