As I take a look around me
All I see is the poverty that surrounds me
Broken hearts and frozen dreams, bad times and misery
There ain't a lot of money down here
Everybody live off everybody else down here
One's loss is another's gain
Nobody really cares about your pain
So many wanting to survive, so many lost their will to thrive
Just living day to day as they wait for the next opportunity to dump their way
Hopes to never get the chance too busy being a victim of circumstance
Watching their days go by, keep aside, don't care if they live or die
Why is life so hard?

Santa on the corner of the block
Tears in his eyes as he takes the plots
Pain in his heart as he slowly plans
To save his family the only way that he can
He cares for his mom and his old Uncle Joe
And two little kids that his sister left for home
He tried to find a job but he had no luck
The rich passed through and he didn't have enough
He's got a 22 and a Black King mask
He's gonna pull a lick and he better learn fast
He really ain't ready and he just don't know
The man behind the counter has a gun in the throat
He walked in strong like, give me all the cash
Flashed a 22 and suddenly he heard the blast
Felt the hot lead as the room started spinning
He realized that he's about to die any minute
Why is life so hard?
