Sirens woke me again last night,
but they werent coming for me.
Mustve been another fight
at the neighbors down the street.
Ive seen the woman who lives there
at the grocery store in town -
shes got blue eyes and blue bruises everywhere...
Ive tried to smile at her,
but she only looks down,
stares at the ground.
As I looked out of the window,
I could see her face lit up with red -
partly from the flashing lights glow,
partly from the blows to her pretty head.
The officer in attendance was writing down every word she said,
but he's not listening,
too busy scribbling
aint no charges pressed, I bet.

And as they read the man his rights, I am overcome by a crazy sense of peace.
It must be kind of nice to be wanted by anyone, even if it is just the police.
