The Road

The road stretched out

A hand ready to shake

The hand reached in

To lead me from this place



My house, it yawned for my room

Was fool of waste

So I finally set my pace

Along the road



The road is pulling me

My home is wishing me away

The street-lamps beckoning:

"Come careless, swiftly

And stray,"



But gone, before I'm gone

I'd like for all my friends

To join up with me

Farewell, old comforts
