I said, baby, let's be decent, buy a little piece of land
You said, sounds like heaven, and reached right for my hand
We drove into town for a loaf of bread
Came home with a safe in the back instead
Didn't mean to stir up dust
Things just happen around folks like us
We keep tellin' ourselves, this'll be the last
But temptation's got a lead foot and we're built too fast
We're partners in crime, that's the long and short
Never could act like the regular sort
Cupid must've had a crooked design
'Cause we are partners in crime
Thought we'd have a picnic down by the creek
Just us two disappearin' for a week
Next thing I know we're dodgin' blue lights
Laughin' so hard we can barely drive
You keep the lookout, I'll keep the truck
Lord knows we've got ridiculous luck
We ain't bad, we're just inclined
To make poor choices at the perfect time
We're partners in crime, that's the long and short
Never could act like the regular sort
Cupid must've had a crooked design
'Cause we are partners in crime
You flash that grin, I know the drill
Somebody's wallet's gonna lose its will
'Cause some grow old sittin' on the porch swing slow
We'd steal even the porch before we go
We're partners in crime, that's the long and short
Never could act like the regular sort
Cupid must've had a crooked design
'Cause we are partners in crime
